An activist group called on Twitter on Tuesday to remove a white supremacist account after he used the platform to post anti-Semitic comments.
The account has since been removed.
“White supremacists are not welcome on Twitter,” the group wrote in a statement on the social media platform.
“We want Twitter to be a safe space for all, including white supremacists.”
Twitter has removed nearly 1,000 accounts in recent months following the #BlackLivesMatter movement, including the account that posted anti-Muslim comments and other posts that many say targeted Muslim Americans.
But the company has faced criticism for not doing enough to prevent white supremacists from using the platform, which has become a battleground for anti-Semitism and other bigotry.
